This is a photo, not a postcard. Imperial Motor Service was opened for business on May 23, 1930, by Robert Burns. The business was owned by A.C. Robertson who also founded Cornwall Motor Sales. The 4-bay service station was located west of the Capitol Theatre on Second Street West. Robertson sold the business to two of his Cornwall Motor Sales employees, Mike Lapensee and George Meyers. After WWII, partners Mike and George sold Austin Hillman cars (shown in the service bays) and later Nash, Rambler, and Metropolitan autos. The office to the right of the bays had two partner’s desks and, at the rear, a staircase that led to a basement where car parts were stored. Washrooms were down a cement sidewalk outside the office wall on the East side. There was parking in the rear of the garage and to the West side.
