Firefighters With Their Hoses are Seen Here at the Front of the Buildings, Cornwall, Ontario, 1933

Firefighters with their hoses are seen here at the front of the buildings.

The photographer (at left, wearing suspenders) is using a tripod with his camera to photograph the fire. On the ground to his left, is a spare camera. The man beside the photographer has a notebook in his back pocket and is probably a newspaper reporter. Water cascades from the second floor of the Woolworths Store in front of these two men. The rescued tables seen above have been set upright and serve as a leaning shelf for a young man watching the fire. Modern firefighters would not allow the public to be so close to the firefighters.
