The American Link of the Early International Bridge.

The American link of the early international bridge.

At the same time as the building of the Canadian O&NY bridge over the north channel of the river, a second bridge was built over the south channel of the St. Lawrence River. Made up of three Pratt trusses, three-quarters of the bridge was in American territory. Construction began in 1897 and was scheduled to be completed in 1898. The collapse of the Canadian bridge delayed the official opening until October 1900.
