A Step Back in Time. Cornwall, Ontario

A Step Back in Time.

The Post Office is on the right, notice the water fountain for horses on the street. There were similar fountains in front of the Court House on Water Street and at Pitt and Fourth Streets near the Town Hall. The low building beside the post office is the Customs warehouse. The next building housed The Standard – Steam Printing House. In 1932 Cornwall’s two newspapers partnered to become the Standard-Freeholder. There appears to be a small house next, and a fence is visible next to the house. The tower of Trinity Anglican Church can be seen further west amidst the treetops.
