The Bathing House on Stanley Island, near Cornwall, Ontario

The Bathing House on Stanley Island.

A patriotic card featuring the Union Jack and the crests of the provinces. Early postcards did not provide room for a message. Postal officials felt that “the photo was the message.” The reverse side was reserved for address only. This did not suit people mailing cards for they often wrote around the edges of the photo (like this one signed Maud Jardine).
