Here is an earlier glimpse of Pitt Street looking south towards the river. On the right is the Post Office (with a tower) and on the left, the dormer windows of the King George Hotel can be seen. To the right of the post office is the red-brick Royal Bank building which was saved from the Great Fire. All, except Jardine Furniture at the corner of Pitt and Third streets, were destroyed, including the Glengarry Block with the striped awning.
