Commemorative paintings on the sides of several local buildings, Corner of Pitt & Second Street, Cornwall, Ontario

Corner of Pitt & Second Street.

“Cornwall circa 1910” features the corner of Pitt & Second Streets. The King George Hotel (left) was built in 1825 and burned to the ground on February 14, 1997. The grey building on the left was the post office from 1883 to 1954. In 1955 it was demolished to make way for the St. Lawrence Seaway Headquarters—currently the tallest building in Cornwall. Cornwall had street cars in 1910 and later trolley busses. Today, public transit is serviced by Hybrid and Gas-Powered busses, all of which are fully accessible by wheelchair. Five Handi-Transit busses are also available for passenger pick-up and drop-off at the passenger’s chosen locations.
