On the corner east of the Royal Hotel is another of Fred Lefebvre’s office blocks with apartments on the second and third floors. Ground floor tenants are the Bank of Montreal and the Beamish Store. The white globe on the Montreal Road side of the building says “Police.” Cornwall Township used the basement as their Police Station making this photo pre–1956.

Memory Shared: I remember walking the beat and the sign was still painted on the wall. “Police” it said, with a hand, pointing a finger (like an arrow) down the stairs to the basement. I wish I knew the name of the tall officer standing beside Fred in this photo postcard.
