The Cornwall Commercial College was founded in 1897 by George F. Smith, who was principal for 66 years. The renowned College was situated in the Colquhoun Block, on the southwest corner of Pitt and First Streets. Students studied typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, accounting, commercial law, and office practices, to get a job in the Big City—Montreal!
