A fine view of the canal with a lock beside Howard Smith Paper Mills (later Domtar). The reverse side of the card says, “The possible site of a new seaway lock which would create an all-Canadian seaway.” The Canadian Seaway was never built and the huge bridge built to accommodate expected freighters was demolished to be replaced by a lower-level structure. The long white power dam can be seen in the background.
